Everyone at Muaitheabhal Community Trust was deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Angus Morrison, Manager of Acair Books. His loss leaves a profound void in the cultural heart of our islands.

Angus made an immense contribution to Gaelic publishing and to the cultural life of our islands, championing local authors, artists and stories with warmth, dedication and pride. His work at Acair leaves a lasting legacy that will be treasured across the Western Isles and far beyond. He was a steadfast guardian of our language and stories, ensuring they found their audience with care and respect.
Following a career spanning 20 years teaching in Gaelic Medium Education, Angus joined the Acair team in 2021. In his short time as Manager, his impact was profound. More than a publisher, Angus was a community pillar. He was selfless, a meticulous and gentle man with an unending kindness in his heart. His quiet leadership and genuine passion for every project and person he worked with defined his tenure.
We send our heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and all of his colleagues at Acair at this very sad time. The Acair team, the staff and the Board, are together mourning the passing of their manager and friend.
We, as a collective, struggle to find the words at the moment, but our thoughts are with his wife, Janet, his mother, and the entire family during this immensely difficult time. Angus Morrison’s legacy is not only found on the shelves of bookshops and libraries but in the strengthened spirit of Gaelic culture he nurtured with such quiet, unwavering commitment. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.
