MARION COUNTY, KY — A community is in mourning after an 18-year-old from Campbellsville was killed in an early morning shooting Sunday in Marion County.

According to Marion County Sheriff Ray Gardner, deputies responded to a report of a possible shooting at 1259 Penick Road in Lebanon around 2:30 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Jaron J. Johnson, 18, of Campbellsville, deceased at the scene.

Sheriff Gardner stated the preliminary investigation reveals a large party was underway at the residence when a physical altercation erupted. During the fight, authorities report a firearm was displayed and discharged, fatally striking Johnson.

The Marion County Sheriff’s Office has launched a full investigation into the incident. As of now, no suspects have been named, no arrests have been made, and no charges have been filed. Officials are withholding further details to protect the integrity of the active investigation.
