Brett Klusaw Omaha, Nebraska Obituary, man died after an accident left him quadriplegic

The Norwalk community and countless others nationwide mourn the peaceful passing of Sherwood “Brett” Taylor on July 3rd. He was surrounded by his loving family at the age of 45.

Brett’s life was a profound testament to resilience, joy, and purpose. At just two years old, a car accident left him quadriplegic and dependent on a ventilator. He would live on that ventilator for an incredible 43 years, believed to be the longest-living quadriplegic ventilator-dependent individual in the United States.

To define Brett by his medical challenges, however, would be to miss the essence of his remarkable spirit. He lived a full and vibrant life. A devoted fan, he cheered passionately for Husker football (GBR!). He found immense joy in holidays, great food, traveling, fishing, and, most of all, in the friends he made both online and off.

Brett possessed a heart of gold and channeled his experiences into helping others. He was a leading member of several disability support groups, where he served as a mentor and a beacon of unwavering positivity. For anyone facing a tough battle, Brett was a guiding light, proving that a life of meaning and connection is always possible.

His legacy is not one of limitation, but of boundless inspiration. Brett Taylor showed the world that the human spirit can soar, regardless of circumstance, and that a life of impact is built on courage, kindness, and an unyielding zest for every single day. He will be deeply missed.
